Troubleshoot a CS2 or VALORANT crosshair code that is rejected, incomplete, pasted into the wrong field, or imported without a visible change.
1. Identify the code format
A CS2 share code starts with CSGO- and uses five grouped blocks after the prefix. A VALORANT profile code begins with 0; and continues as semicolon-separated settings. The two formats are not interchangeable.
Console commands are also different from share codes. A string containing commands such as cl_crosshairsize belongs in the CS2 developer console or a configuration file, not the CSGO- import dialog.
2. Remove formatting damage
Copy the value again from a dedicated code field. Messaging apps and formatted documents can add quotation marks, replace hyphens, wrap the string, or omit its final characters.
Paste as plain text and remove spaces before or after the code. Do not remove the semicolons inside a VALORANT profile or the hyphens inside a CS2 share code; those separators are part of the format.
- CS2: preserve CSGO- and every grouped hyphen.
- VALORANT: preserve the opening 0; and every semicolon.
- Remove labels such as “code:” and any trailing punctuation.
3. Use the correct import field
In CS2, paste a CSGO- code into Settings → Game → Crosshair → Share or Import. In VALORANT, use Settings → Crosshair → Import Profile Code and then select the newly created profile.
If the import succeeds but nothing appears to change, switch to a clearly different profile and back again. In VALORANT, inspect Primary, ADS, and sniper tabs because the active group may differ from the preview you expected.
4. Rebuild only as a controlled fallback
If a native code remains invalid after a clean re-copy, use the visible settings as a starting point in the matching generator. Rebuild size, thickness, gap, color, outline, and dot, then create a fresh code in the game.
Do not rely on a screenshot for exact pixel geometry when numeric settings or a working share code are available. A screenshot may be scaled, compressed, or captured at another resolution.
Export or copy your existing profile before troubleshooting so every experiment is reversible.
Common questions
Why does CS2 say my crosshair code is invalid?
The CSGO- code may be incomplete, contain extra characters, or be pasted into the wrong field. Re-copy the complete value as plain text.
Why does VALORANT import a profile but show no change?
Select the newly created profile and inspect the Primary, ADS, and sniper groups. The imported profile may not be the active one.
Can a CS2 code work in VALORANT?
No. CS2 and VALORANT use unrelated native formats and separate import controls.
